He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie Dunbar and Lydia Dunbar; his brother Robert; his son-in-law Harold Hughes; and his son Larry Dunbar.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Hall Dunbar; his sister Blanche Combs of Christiansburg, VA; his daughters, Rebecca Hughes of Salem, VA and Roberta Steele (Bill) of Knoxville, TN; and his daughter-in-law Donetta Dunbar. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
