Darrel Norris Obituary
Darrel R. Norris, age 87, a resident of Philippi, entered his heavenly home peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at his grandson's home, Derek Norris while under the care of WVU Hospice following an extended illness.
Mr. Norris was born on October 29, 1938, a son to the late Harold Norris, and Mary (Farris) Norris.
Darrel joined hands in marriage to the former Genevive Newman who preceded him in death.
He leaves behind three grandsons who he loved and cherished dearly; Derek Norris of Philippi, Josh Boram, and Ethan Boram, and wife Miranda of Philippi, great grandchildren; Payton Boram, Braxton Boram, Carson Boram, Paislee Boram, Emma Boram Jenna Boram, Jackson Boram, Judith Boram, Connor Boram, Oliva Boram, Kinsley Norris, Remmy Norris, Rowyan Norris, and Colter Norris, sisters; Linda Adams, and husband Lee, and Freda Dalton, several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Norris was preceded in death by his daughter; Sandra Kay Boram, four brothers; Kermit Norris, Larry Norris, Lonnie Norris, and Paul Norris.
Darrel was a Christian by faith, he was a faithful member of Peoples Chapel Church where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent for over 30 years, he also drove the church van. He retired in 1993 from the West Viginia Department of Highways where he ran heavy equipment and found many new friendships along the way. Darrel was a simple man; he loved to farm with his family and loved to garden. He brought quiet strength into the lives around him. He had a way of making everyone feel valued and loved, his spirit will continue to live on through the memories he created with his family and friends.
Family and friends may gather at the Peoples Chapel Church 777 Crestview Lane, Philippi, on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 10 am until 1 pm, the funeral hour. Rev. Ruston Seamen will officiate, and interment will follow at the Norris Family Cemetery where he will be laid to rest by his wife, Genevive. The Kittle Family Funeral Home of Philippi is honored to be assisting the family with the arrangements.
Interment will follow at the Norris Family Cemetery.
