Donna Harris Obituary
Donna Kay (Bennett) Harris, age 76, of Belington, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026, in the WVU Medicine United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV., with her family by her side following an extended illness. Donna was a beloved daughter, sister, and mother whose kindness and warmth left an indelible mark on the lives of those who were fortunate to know her; she created lasting memories and friendships that will be cherished forever.
She was born on May 31, 1950, in Philippi, WV., the beloved daughter of the late Dorsey Bennett, and Viviani R. (McQuain) Bennett.
On December 22, 1967, she joined hands in marriage to Franklin D. Harris who preceded her in death.
She leaves behind, a son; Franklin Lynn Harris, daughters; Patricia Freeman, and husband Karl, Veralee Kay Bennett, and husband Robert, brothers; Donald Bennett, and wife Connie, Roger Lee Bennett, and wife Penny, John Wayne Bennett, and wife Rosetta, sisters; Gloria Faye Isner, Beulah Bartlett, grandchildren; Ashley Harris, Austin Bennett, Latasha Freeman, Franklin D. Harris, Kayla Harris, and Jacob Harris, great grandchildren; Jazzlyn Harris, Trentyn Harris, Kyleigh Troxel, and Damon Harris, several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were brothers; Delbert Wade Bennett, Dorsey Lynn Bennett, sisters; Ruby Mardine Johnson, and Delores Ruth Lambert.
As we remember Donna, let us honor her legacy by embracing the love and kindness she freely shared with all. May her soul find peace, and may we carry forward the lessons of compassion she instilled in each of us. Mrs. Harris was a Christian by faith; she attended Barbour County Schools and graduated from Philip Barbour High School with the class of 1968. Donna started out her working journey as a CNA, was a professional cook at Shawnee Restaurant and Diane's Restaurant, Shop n Save Deli, FedEx, and finally a Bank Teller for Premier Bank which now is Peoples Bank where touched many lives and she made several friends along the way. She loved her family and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, a person could always find Frank and Donna at their favorite fishing spot at Teter Creek Lake and some at Spruce Lake. Her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving, and Christmas where of course it was family, food, and lots of love. Donna was the glue that held her family together, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a steadfast spirit that touched all who knew her. In this time of grief, we invite all who knew Donna to come together to pay their respects and share in the memories of a truly remarkable woman. She will forever remain in our hearts.
Family and friends will be received at the Kittle Family Funeral Home 265 Beech Ave., Philippi, WV., on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the funeral hour, Pastor Johnny Paul Williams will officiate and burial will follow in the Central Chapel Cemetery where she will be laid to rest by her husband Franklin.
