He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul James and Blanche Dorothy Carey (Bennett); and his siblings, Patsy Miller and Kenneth Carey. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Lucille Carey (McVicker); his children, Renee Howdershelt (Melvin) and Mark Carey (Dawn); his nephew Ronnie Carey; his grandchildren, Bradley Howdershelt (Desiree), Mark Carey II (Shana), Seth Howdershelt (Lauren), Marissa Carey and Zach Howdershelt (Hannah); his great grandchildren, Alanna, Tobias, Ava, Ezra, Makenna, Sutton, Owen, Gentry, Thomas, Wade, Nora and Sable; and his brother Michael Carey.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the New Life Family Worship Center (5469 Nestorville Rd, Philippi, WV 26405). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
