Hal Bunner Obituary
Hal Kent Bunner, age 67, departed this life Saturday July 4, 2026, during his stay at the Tygart Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center, with his family by his side while under the care of Mountain Hospice, following a terminal illness.
He was born October 21, 1958, in Clarksburg WV., the son of late Hubert Earnest and Jean (Durrett) Bunner. Left to cherish his memory are three daughters; Amber Heaton, and husband Jonny of PA, Sheena Bunner of Tennessee, Halie Mayle and partner Nathan Baker of Fairmont. Additional survivors include grandchildren; Genesis Singleton and partner Dominic Corron of Elkins, Cameron and Crystal Ford, Tommy Baldwin, Wyatt and Sawyer and one great granddaughter Everleigh Corron.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by a daughter Sarah Bunner and brother Thomas Bunner. Hal was a graduate of Franklin High School and worked for Leo P. Ware and Son; his late aunt and uncle's business for 35 years. Hal was a strong Christian by faith and enjoyed listening to his preachings on his phone along with old hymns and faith related podcasts. Hal also spent many summers volunteering at the Cherry Run Camp, which is a non-profit camp where children, youth, and adults go to grow in faith regardless of denomination'. He enjoyed being in nature whether it was kayaking or sightseeing, he also loved animals, especially his dog Joey. He loved his classic rock music. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends may gather on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Kittle Family Funeral Home, 265 Beech Ave. Philippi, WV., from 11 am until 1:30 pm at the funeral hour. Pastor Jamie Andrews will officiate. Burial will follow in the Concord Cemetery near Belington where he will be laid to rest by his parents and brother. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to cover funeral expenses at the website below. The Kittle Family Funeral Home in Philippi is in charge of arrangements for Hal Bunner.
