He is survived by : his sister Carrie Lee Thompson (Cleavenger); his close friends, Jim Courtney, Aaron Helmick and Zeke Lawrence; his wife Judy Cleavenger (Green); his children, John William Cleavenger Sr., Jeffrey Cleavenger (Tammy) and Heather (Cleavenger) Weaver (Derek); his sister Jean Curkendall (Blair) of Parkersburg, WV.; his grandchildren, Ashley, Billie Harris (Tony), John William Cleavenger Jr. Bryce, Haden and Reese Weaver; his great grandchildren, Ashley, Jennah, Jaxson, Judith, Charlee, Connor, Olivia, Amelia, Abraham, Alice, Denzil and Adalyn; and his nieces and nephews, Gerald Thompson of Parkersburg, Mike Thompson (Tracy) of Wyoming, Amy Deso (Rob) of Virginia, Lisa Weaver (Sam) of Parkersburg, Bridget Wilson (Cominsky) of Newport, NC and Michael Flanagan of Raleigh, NC.. He is also survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Coon's Run Baptist Church or WV Hospice Care in memory of John.
