Estes H. Phillips Jr. went home to be with his former wife, father, mother and brother on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at United Hospital Center. Junior was diagnosed with cancer on October 22, 2025. Junior was born October 24, 1946, in Philippi, a son of the late Estes H. and Mary Jane (Menefee) Phillips of White Oak. Junior was the last member of his immediate family. He was formerly married to the late Martha Jean Schoonover Phillips for 39 years before they divorced in 2009. He was the father of one son, Glenn Phillips and wife Crystal, with whom he made his home, one daughter Gloria Jean Phillips Tusing and husband Doug, of Teter Creek Lake Community.

He was the grandfather of five grandchildren; Gregory Lynn Phillips and companion, Natalie Linger of Weston, Glenn Tusing and wife Melissa of Beverly, Sarah Marie Smith and Husband Brandon of Montrose, Brady Joe Phillips, at home and Cassie Bryann Phillips Young and husband Zachery of Buckhannon. He was the great grandfather of four children, Qwaidyn Frederick McCord, Layla Nichole and Hunter Arthur Smith all of Montrose and Bella Mae Young of Buckhannon. Junior had several friends but the ones he spent time with the most were the late Cleveland Biller, Kay Biller, and Terry Biller.

He also enjoyed mingling and socializing with everyone at Teter Creek Lake Neighborhood Watch Picnics and events. He loved talking to his family and friends on the phone. Junior worked as a laborer and took care of the family farm since he was 16 years old. He attended the Kasson School of Barbour County until the eighth grade when he quit to help on the family farm. Junior was a former employee of Ware's Sawmill, Bel-Bar, Belington Hi-Tech Dry Kiln, Woody's Forest Products, and Parsons Char-Coal Plant where most called him maverick.

He was most recently employed by Wilson Quality Millworks of Elkins. Junior enjoyed fishing, hunting, dirt track racing, talking on the phone and spending time with his kids and grandkids. Junior was proceeded in death not only by his former wife, parents and friend, but also by his brother Kenneth C. Phillips Sr. Junior will be missed by all those that had the privilege of knowing him. He will be truly missed by his children, grandchildren and the rest of his cousins, nieces and nephews.
