Larry Halstead Obituary
Larry Phillip Halstead, age 70 a resident Weston, WV passed away from this life on Friday, September 15, 2023, in the Davis Memorial Medical Center in Elkins, following an extended illness.
He was born on October 11, 1952, in Cleveland, OH to the late Dennis and Mary (Huztler) Halstead.
On March 29, 2003, he was united in marriage to Virginia Arvella (Westfall) Halstead who preceded him on May 7, 2022.
Larry leaves behind his children, Kimberly Herndon, and husband Jim Herndon, Tammy Jo Vest, and husband John Vest, Buffy Burnett, and husband Brian Burnett, Anthony Scott Halstead, and wife Stacey Halstead, and Dakota Shaffer; brothers, James Halstead, Bob Sainato, and Mike Cain; sisters, Denise Halstead, Patrica Row, and Sharyn Ryan; ten grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and friends. K-9 companions, Cuddles, Daisey, and Boo Boo.
Also preceding him death are his stepfather, Alman "Dude" McCauley, one granddaughter, Mallorie Grace Herndon, one great-grandson, Landon Ray Cole. On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, his mother-in- law, Brenda Lee (Zickefoose) Westfall in which he cared for passed away.
Larry was a veteran having served in the United States Army. He retired as Police Chief for the City of Davis. He loved to sing and play his guitar. Larry loved being outdoors by fishing and hunting. He is going to be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Family and friends will gather at the Kittle Family Funeral Home 265 Beech Ave. Philippi, WV., on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from 10 am until 12 pm., a funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 12 pm, with the Rev. Dave "Cowboy" Brown officiating interment will follow in the Stringtown Cemetery. The Belington American Legion Post 96 will conduct Military Rites. To offset the cost of his funeral expenses, contributions may be made to the funeral home. The Kittle Family Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family with the arrangements.
