Shirley Jean Collins Obituary
Shirley Jean (Croston) Collins, age 77, a resident of Philippi, WV, passed from this life on Friday October 7, 2022, in the J.W., Ruby Memorial Hospital Morgantown WV., her death was sudden and unexpected.
She was born on June 8, 1945, in Philippi, WV, a daughter to the late Blaine Croston and Alta (Miner) Croston.
Shirley was united in marriage to the love of her life Freddie Collins, who survives at their home.
She is survived by one son, Michael Wayne, and wife Misty, one daughter, Stephanie Ann Phillips, and husband, Wilbert, two daughter- in- laws, Sallie Ann Collins, and Karen Sue Collins. She was grandmother to many including her seven grandchildren, Shirley Dawn Collins, David Daniel Collins, Danelle Lynn Collins, Keisha Dawn Nichole (Collins) Croston, Emily Brooke Collins, and Skyler Chance David Phillips, great-grandchildren, Paydon Westfall, Ethan Westfall, Cambria Knight, Nadaleigh Knight, Breelynn Knight, Daniel Collins Jr., Caden Collins, Bentlee Todd, Nevaeh Collins, Ariana Todd, Briar Croston, Braxten Hardy, and Ivee Hardy. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her death are sons, David Lee Collins, and Freddie Lee Collins, a grandson Dustin Lee Collins, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family, brother, Harley Croston, sisters, Lucille Kennedy, Agnes Mayle, Virginia Mayle, Maxine Mayle, Evelynn Mayle, Alma Mayle, Lula May Mayle, and Dolly Croston.
Mrs. Collins attended the schools of Barbour County. She was a member and attended the Olive Hill Apostolic Church. She loved to raise gardens and flowers. Shirley also loved to be in the nature by feeding birds, and animals. She loved her family, and grandchildren with her whole heart. Shirley was a wonderful lady and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Family and friends will be received at the Kittle Family Funeral Home 265 Beech Ave., Philippi on Sunday, October 9, 2022, from 6 pm until 8:00 pm., and again on Monday, October 10, 2022, from 8 am., until 8 pm., and from 8 am., until 11 am on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. A funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 11 am., with Evangelist Ezik S. Norris officiating and interment will follow in the Welch Cemetery near, Moatsville. The Kittle Family Funeral Home 265 Beech Ave., Philippi is honored to be assisting the Collins Family with the arrangements.
