She was predeceased by: her parents, John Melton and Audra Melton; her aunt Teanie; her uncle Roy McClanahan; and her siblings, Rosalie Purdy, James Melton and Peggy Melton (James Scott).

She is survived by: her husband James "Jim" Scott; her sisters, Betty Melton of Nitro, WV and Sharon Mullins (James) of Florida; and her siblings-in-law, Morris Purdy of Poca, WV and Wanda Melton of Buffalo, WV. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to support First Presbyterian Church in Nitro or the James Melton Scholarship Fund.
