He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Stapleton and Anna Mae Richards Stapleton; and his brothers, Charles and David Stapleton. He is survived by: his wife Darla Gibson Stapleton; his children, Michelle Cottle (G. W.), Luther Stapleton (Mindy), Vernon Stapleton (Valerie), Stacy Stapleton, Austin Stapleton and Michael Stapleton; his grandchildren, George, Annaleigh, Charlie, Katherine, Weston, Jackson, Gibson, Vernon Wayne and Patrick; and his sister Patricia Speakman (Larry).
