He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Allen Hurt and Mattie Jane Abshire Hurt; his siblings, James, Abe, Ben, George, Bob Hurt, Alma Louise Hurt, Gertrude Hurt, Nora Stallings, Kate Spicer and Ferlene Thornton; and his brother-in-law Derrick Jarvis.
He is survived by: his wife Jennifer Rose Lyle Hurt of Princeton; his children, Roger Lee Hurt, Jr. (Jill) of Princeton, Kristin Leian Hurt of Knoxville, TN and Ben Ward Hurt, Jr. (Janet Bates) of King, NC.; his grandchildren, Madelyn Taylor Hurt of Princeton, Alexis Jordan Sylvester of Princeton and Jax Logan Hurt of Princeton; his great grandchildren, Kohen Lee Hurt and Ayren Treyvon Winebush; his great-nieces, Ava and Abigail Lee Bowen; his parents-in-law, Phyllis Anne Rose-Lyle and Raynard Laverne Lyle of Pinoak; and his sisters-in-law, Melissa Marie Jarvis of Lashmeet and Jacqueline Renae Lambert (Robert) of Princeton. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
