He was predeceased by: his parents, Thearn Ellis Sr. and Merle Hurt Ellis; and his brother John Ellis. He is survived by: his daughter Theresa Whittaker (George); his granddaughters, Preslei and Brylee Whittaker; and his sisters, Pat Duncan (Jerry), Drema Thompson, Brenda Morrison (Rick), Barbara Milam and Edie Rose.
