He was predeceased by: his significant other Joseph Matthews; his parents, John Leonard and Thelma Jeter Shank; his sister Thelma Jeter Shank Hildebrand; his brother-in-law John Roberts Hildebrand; Winston, Elsa, Maxmillion, Finneas, Jolie and Drake.

He is survived by: his nieces, Martha Sherwood, Sarah Caldwell and Caroline Cochrane; his nephew John Hildebrand, Jr.; Sergio. He is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
