He was predeceased by : his parents, Jay Isaac and Goldie Ellen Smith (Scritchfield); his wife Thelma Jane Turner; his brother Jay Isaac Smith, Jr.; and his granddaughter Kelly Jane Pitzer.

He is survived by : his children, Baron Smith, Byron Smith, Linda Fassett (Rich), Cynthia Dinger (Mike) and Jaynie Riel (Carey). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 23rd 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Morgan Funeral Home (13411 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Reedsville, WV 26547-0269). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 23rd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, May 23rd 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Gordon Cemetery (5044 Gladesville Rd, Independence, WV 26374).
