He was predeceased by : his parents, Dutch Batten and Alice Smith Batten; his wife Ruby Wines Batten; his brother Glenn Batten; and his grandchildren, Jessica Batten and Josiah Batten.

He is survived by : his sons, Frederick "Rick" (Charlotte Batten Jr.), Rodney (Blanca Batten) and Ronald (Janie Batten); his sister Jo Ann; his siblings-in-law, Sonny Stephens and Jorita Batten of New Matamoras, OH; his grandchildren, Kelsey Clough (Bill) of St. Albans, Emily, Sam Daniel of Charleston, Tyrone Serna, Benito Serna of LeHigh, Krista Batten of Ripley, Kyler Scarberry of Ripley and Rachael Scarberry of Charleston; his great grandchildren, Jadyn Parsons of Ripley, Jace Starcher of Ripley, Kolton Smith of Ripley, Josiah Brandon Minter of Ripley, Joshua Serna of LeHigh Acres, FL, Justin Serna of LeHigh Acres, FL, Jonah Serna of LeHigh Acres, FL, Aaliyah Serna of LeHigh Acres, FL, Josiah Batten of LeHigh Acres, FL, Elijah Williams, Grayson Scarberry of Shadyside, OH, Aleigha Scarberry of Ripley, Will, Sophia Clough of St. Albans, Jaxen, Zoey and Isabel Daniel of Charleston; and his great great grandchild Jaycee Blue Serna of Guam.
