Freeda left this world on November 14, 2025 at the age of 94, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Hatcher and Esther Winter Hatcher; her husband John Halstead; her son Rodney Leon Kay; and her brothers, Uriah Hatcher, Okey Hatcher, Oliver Hatcher, Rev. Joe Hatcher and Ralph Hatcher.
She is survived by: her daughters, Ruby Kerns (Donnie) and Diane Judy (Allen); her grandsons, Donald Ray Kerns (Amy), Jason Kay (Amy), Jay Kerns (Heather), Kermit Kay (Tracey) and Joe Kay (Jennifer); and her pet Louie. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Waybright Funeral Home (511 S Church St, Ripley, WV 25271). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 20th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
