He was predeceased by: his mother Nellie Turpin Pennington; and his siblings, Carl, Ed, Warren, Walt, Garnett, Jess, Gale, Jim, Elaine Christian and Shirley Cline.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his children, John Gale Pennington (Merry Gail) of Welch, WV, Terri Sly (Jim) of Moneta, VA, Gerri Sue Pennington of Princeton, WV and Kerri Anderson (Tim) of Welch, WV; his granddaughters, Erica Preston (Albert) of Rocky Mount, VA and Stephanie Pennington of Welch, WV; and his great grandchild Gunnar Preston of Rocky Mount, VA. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
