He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Pownell and Beatrice Pownell (Hawse); and his brother Rodney Pownell. He is survived by: his sons, Billy Pownell (Nicole) of Romney, WV and Ricky Pownell (Carrie Ruddle) of Franklin, WV; his grandchildren, Emily Bohrer, Sarah Pownell, Phoebe Pownell, Vivian Pownell and Ross Pownell; the mothers of children, Linda Zirk and Donnie Hott; and his siblings, Vicky Adams of Romney, WV, Karen Colebank of Romney, WV and Randy Pownell of Augusta, WV..
