He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Payne and Mabel Griffith Payne; his wife Shirley Steele Payne; his children, Chet D Payne and Connie Payne Rupert; and his brothers, Jim, Homer, Bill and Dave Payne.
He is survived by: his son Wayne Payne (Karol) of St. Marys, WV; his grandchildren, Brandy Taylor (Jed Dennis), Chet Rupert (Heather), Drew Payne (Sami) and Erica Nichols (Jon Gary); his great grandchildren, Kyleigh, Tucker Rupert, Logan Taylor, Boone, Presley and Walker Payne; and his siblings, Bus Payne of Tennessee, Jerry Payne (Wanda) of St Marys and Annabelle Ballew. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
