She was predeceased by: her parents, Obarita Pearl Chipps Kennedy and Charles Jack Kennedy; her grandchildren, Shelby Chipps and Clyde Chipps Jr.; her brothers, John Chipps and Charles Jack Kennedy; and her son-in-law Marvin Ford.

She is survived by: her husband David Lee Chipps; her children, Obarita Dawn Ray of Salem, Kelly Ann Hayhurst of Bay City, MI, Tammy Lee Ford of Salem, Clyde Harley Chipps (Sheila) of Asheboro, NC, Anthony David Chipps (Monicia) of Ramseur, NC and David Jonathan Michael Chipps (Tonya) of Salem; her grandchildren, Aften Ray, Robert Ray, Shalanda Ray, Paisley Ray, Whitney Chipps, Brittney Delaney (Ray), Brandy Miller, Amanda Thorton (Jordan), John Blind, Aubree Ford, David Chipps and Christinia Rice; and her siblings, Eddie Ray (Betty) of Salem and Karla Davis (Michael) of West Union. She is also survived by twenty-three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
