Jay Allen Matthews Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jay Allen Matthews of Scott Depot, West Virginia, who passed away on December 22, 2025, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Jay may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Jay touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Troy Matthews and Glyda Mae Matthews. He is survived by: his wife Joan; his daughter Erin Franklin (Joseph) of Charleston, WV; his stepchildren, James Black of Scott Depot, WV and Missy Orrick (Richie) of Wales, UK; his grandchildren, Britton and Bella Orrick of Wales, UK; and his siblings, Linda Cruickshank (Bill) of Sissonville, WV and Dennis Matthews of Jacksonville, NC. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
