Sherman Shumate Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Sherman Shumate of Shady Spring, West Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 11, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid adieu to Sherman's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in his wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration Sherman has bequeathed us. For though he may have departed from our sight, his spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherman G. Shumate and Opal L. McKinney Shumate; his daughter Judy Hunley; his sisters, Patricia Doleman and Betty Shumate Empson; and his brother-in-law Byron Empson.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Cook Shumate; his daughter Kathy Ridley (Tim Uniontown); his grandson George Meadows (Wendy) of Shady Spring; his great grandchild Peyton Meadows of Shady Spring; and his nieces, Lisa Davenport of Virginia and Denise Cheri of Virginia.
