He was predeceased by: his grandmother Sylvia Nicholas; his parents, Carrol Eugene Cottrill (Ellen) and Eva Pauline Morgan (Alfred); his siblings, Roger Cottrill and Rita Law; his brother-in-law Jim Utter; and the mother of his children Debbie Hutson (Landes).
He is survived by: his daughter Jennifer Grimes; his son-in-law Matt of Lost Creek; his son Gregory Cottrill of Shinnston; his granddaughters, Logan Swiger (Travis) of Jane Lew and Aubrey Cottrill of Clarksburg; his great grandchild Camden Swiger; his sisters, Barbara Utter of Morgantown and Regina Gain; his siblings-in-law, Dwight (Janice Fury) of Salem and Marsha Cottrill; and his close friend Peggy Fraley. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
