It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald William Book of Shinnston, West Virginia, who passed away on July 15, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Book and Mary Marino Book; his former wife Louise Cain Book; and his siblings, John Book, Frank Book, Sam Book, Roland Book, Stanley Book, Rudy Book, Mary Margaret Spadafore and Nancy Hayes.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Mae Drummond Book; his son Donald; his granddaughters, Haylen Book of Shinnston, Gracie Book of Shinnston and Darian "Hope" Darway; his siblings, Rose Marie Harrison (Paul) of Springfield, VA, Patty Edwards (Vernon), Hoschton and David Book (Renee); and his daughter-in-law Amy Cummings (Haywood). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Harmer Funeral Home (300 Pike St, Shinnston, WV 26431). A prayer was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at 5:00 PM at the same location. A rosary was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at 7:30 PM at the same location.
As a lifelong animal lover, who was as kind to his four-legged friends as he was his human friends, the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to the Harrison County Human Society.
