He was predeceased by: his parents, Thurmond Basham and Hallie Basham of Slab Fork, WV.; his daughter Evvie Wright of Saulsville, Kentucky; his siblings, Anna, Juanita, Linda, Ina and Roger; and his granddaughter Krista Goff of Georgia.
He is survived by: his wife Rita Basham; his children, Billie (Ernie Perdue) of Clarksville, Tennessee, Virginia (David Bailey) of Dawson, George Branam Basham of Iroquois, Martha (Blue McAlpine) of Union and Sara (Jesse Whittaker) of Lester; and his brothers, Denny and Jimmy. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Melton Mortuary Chapel (1200 Harper Rd, Beckley, WV 25801). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at 8:00 PM at the same location.
