He was predeceased by: his parents, Columbus "Lummie" Cox and Sylvia Moye Cox; his siblings, Patsy Lowe (John), Jessie Mae Krumholz (Karl), Clinton Cox, Leslie Cox and Russell Cox; and his siblings' children, Mel Cooper, Jeff Cox, Michael "Scrapper" Scarbrough and Shirley Richmond.
He is survived by: his wife Katie Bea Cox (Woods); his son Joseph "Joey" Cox (Lindsey); his grandchildren, Patricia Williams (Ricky) and Degan Slade Williams; his son Shane Kinder; his pets, Rocky and Cash; and his sisters, Mary Ann Milam and Betty Scarbrough. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel (130 Temple St, Hinton, WV 25951). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at 8:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tom Poe Foundation supporting the Independence High School Baseball Program, 111 Meadow Lane, Crab Orchard, WV, 25827, on behalf of his grandson, Degan Slade Williams.
