As Charles departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Charles may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Charles leaves behind.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Hollis Shafer and Ruby Johnson Shafer. He is survived by: his children, David Shafer (Cindy), Grace Wagner (John) of Asheville, NC and Gerald Shafer; his siblings, Thomas Shafer, Mark Shafer, Ray Shafer, Nancy Shafer, Rose Shafer and Irene Shafer; and his sons, Charles Shafer Jr. and Robert Shafer. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
