He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Baby and Teenie; his siblings, Charlene Collison, Angela Johnson (Tyrone), Shelia Freeman (William), Susie Curry (William), David Burns (Karen), Timothy Brown, James Cook Jr., William Cook, Charlie Cook (Cheryl), Kenneth Cook (Amy), Henry Payton and Curtis Payton (Roberta); his siblings' children, Ashley Burns and Elijah Burns; his grandparents, James and Martha Burns; and his siblings' children, Shaunte, Janea Burns, David "DJ" Burns Jr. and Legend Burns (Maxton James Cook). He was also cherished by four sons.
