He was predeceased by: his parents, Andy Carper and Retha Carper; and his siblings, Ethel May Hatfield, Betty Jane Lyall, Mildred Rae Thompson, Daniel James Carper, Andy Carper Jr., Linda Joyce Chase and Larry Benton Carper.
He is survived by: his wife Frances Steele Carper; his children, Rena Bordea (Doug), Sammy Carper Jr. and Barbara Elder (Darren); his grandchildren, Zach Bordea (Elly), Reed Elder (Ashley) and Deanna McGhee (Nick); and his sisters, Rainelle Browning, Maxine Winters and Lorraine Carroll. He is also survived by many loving nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Sam's memory to the Mill Creek Church of God, Church of God Children's Home or Hubbard Hospice House, honoring the places that held special significance in his heart and the hearts of his family.
