He was predeceased by: his parents, Gay Gillenwater and Josephine Gillenwater; his siblings, Jerry Stewart and Patricia Gillispie; and his granddaughter Katelyn Gillenwater.

He is survived by: his significant other Jean Gillenwater; his son Chris Gillenwater (April Browning); his grandchildren, Jenna Gillenwater (Marvin), Jackson Gillenwater and Kaylee Christian; and his great grandchild Emmitt Christian.
