She was predeceased by: her parents, Edith Linville and Woodrow Jake Sowards; her former husband Wilburn "Fats" Cobb; her daughter Monica Gail Spears; and her siblings, Robert Sowards, Woodrow Sowards, Jr., Frankie Sowards, Herman Montcastle, Hershel Sowards and Wanda Bostic.
She is survived by: her husband Donald Smith of Alum Creek; her children, Billie Joe Spears (Cindy) of Tornado and Sheila Cox of Tornado; her grandchildren, James Cox, Robyn Vaughn (Dustin), Hannah Spears and William Spears; and her siblings, OJ Sowards (Anita Hively) of Yawkey, Warren Montecastle of Yawkey, Ann Gue of Branchland, Ollie Bostic of Griffithsville and Mena Stanley.
