He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest "Jack" E. Stayer and Doris Stayer (McCleaf); his grandson Derek Henderson; and his sisters, Carole Essen and Joyce Bartholow.

He is survived by: his wife Donna Kay Stayer (Colebaugh); his stepdaughter Deborah Henderson (David) of Osterburg, PA; and his nieces, Kathy and Theresa.
