He was predeceased by: his parents, Hobart Robert and Mary Rose Gillihan (Loftus); his siblings, Kenny, Donnie, Paul Gillihan and Jo Jukes; and his significant other Jody Riddles.
He is survived by: his children, Richard Gillihan (Sarah) of Webster Springs, Chris Richards (April) of Gardner, KS, Andy Walker (Leslie) of Wellington, KS, Dorothy Monney (Jeffery) of Jacksonville, NC and Elizabeth Suurvarik (Derek); his grandchildren, Isaac Treadway, Trip Gillihan, Sidney Monney, Lilly Monney, Liam, Bodie, Ava Richards and Johnathon Miller; and his sister Gerry Sue Brite (Gene) of Spring Hill, KS.
In keeping with Richard's wishes, the organ donation process has been completed and many people across the nation will benefit from his selfless act.
