John Richard Weatherhead Obituary
John Richard Weatherhead, a hard-working, great man at heart passed away at his home on Sunday, April 19, 2020 after a two-month battle with leukemia. He was 69.
After 38 years of service, John retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a millwright in the tin mill.
Motorcycles were Johns's passion in life. He was an avid rider and was involved in ABATE of West Virginia, where he participated in many charity rides.
John was extremely proud of his Appalachian American Indian heritage. If you were to visit his home, you would see that it was decorated in all different kinds of Indian memorabilia. At one time, he dreamed of taking off on his motorcycle and living on an Indian reservation.
John was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter Amelia Bartley.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his beloved daughter and best friend Marion Bartley; grandchildren Justin Bartley and Connor (Elizabeth) Bartley; great-grandchildren Addilyn and Declan; brother Murph Weatherhead and his companion Kathy Sutton and David Walker; sisters Mary (John) Kessenich and Nora (Bob) Kilpatrick and sister-in-law Lorena Walker.
Private services will be held for the family.
