He was predeceased by : his parents, Daniel G. Smith and Anna Smith (Bibbo); his children, Bridgette Jo Skiba (Smith) and Dominic "Nick" Smith; his grandchildren, Daniel Thomas and Maggie Ann Hinchee; and his sister Vickie "Sis" Mercer.
He is survived by : his wife Iliene "Diddy" Smith (Cole) of Wellsburg, WV; his daughter DeeAnn Schwertfeger (Mark E.) of Follansbee, WV; his son-in-law Robert Skiba of Colliers, WV; his grandchildren, Jesse DiBattista (Nick), Jake Schwertfeger, Rick and Rob Thomas; and his great grandchild Harper Louise DiBattista. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
