He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Jane Anderson Sumpter and Draper Woodford Sumpter; and his sisters-in-law, Cindy Sumpter and Sonja Sumpter. He is survived by: his brothers, Jim Sumpter and Fred Sumpter; his sister-in-law Linda; and his siblings' children, Tracie Dodson (J. R. Dodson), Travis Sumpter (Alexandra), Lisa Pethtel (Don) and Chuck Sumpter (Shelia). He is also survived by the many great-nieces and great-nephews, and a great great-niece and great great-nephew.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 30th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Hardman Family Funeral Home (730 Main Ave, Weston, WV 26452). A funeral service was held on Sunday, November 30th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the Hardman Family Funeral Home Chapel (730 Main Ave, Weston, WV 26452).
