He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald R. Lutes and Doris Jenette Lutes (Peabody); his children, Darlana Lutes and Donald B. Lutes Jr.; and his sister Sue Fogel.

He is survived by: his children, Lorri Lutes of Moundsville, Marlana Dawn Seum of Moundsville and David Scott Seum of Wheeling; his brother Gary Lutes (Joyce) of St. Clairsville; and his great grandchild Adeline Markwas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and two great-nephews.
