Phillip A. Shaughnessy Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Phillip A. Shaughnessy (Wheeling, West Virginia), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 21, 2026 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Phillip Shaughnessy and Edith Shaughnessy (Barr); his wife Peggy; and his sister Jean May. He is survived by: his children, Colleen Kay Polley (Charles), Kathleen Ann Allen (Jeffrey) and Michael Shaughnessy; and his granddaughter Gabrielle Allen (Joshua DelVillar).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Altmeyer Funeral Home - Elm Grove Chapel (154 Kruger St, Wheeling, WV 26003). A rosary will be held on Tuesday, March 10th 2026 from 7:00 PM to 7:15 PM at the same location. A vigil service will be held on Tuesday, March 10th 2026 from 7:15 PM to 7:30 PM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the St. Michael Catholic Church (1225 National Rd, Wheeling, WV 26003). A burial will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 from 1:15 PM to 1:30 PM at the Greenwood Cemetery (1526 National Rd, Wheeling, WV 26003). The military honors will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
