He was predeceased by: his parents, Blanche Chernick and Leo Chernick; and his wife Alice Chernick. He is survived by: his daughters, Tonja Funch (Chris), Kim Pelton (Mike) and Jennifer Chernick; his granddaughter Abigail Funch; and his sister Jo Ann Legerski. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
