He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. McAteer, Sr. and Viola Mary McAteer (Gagnon); and his siblings, Veronica Vang, Maureen Olins and Thomas McAteer.
He is survived by: his wife Sheree; and his siblings, James McAteer (Sheila), Patrick McAteer (Janet), Dennis McAteer (Gloria), Patricia McAteer (Trish), Phil McAteer (Christy), Regina Behrend (John), Joseph McAteer (Christine) and Annette McAteer (Annie). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
