He was predeceased by : his parents, Juan Garcia and Fidelia Garcia; his grandchildren, Leandro and Louie; and his siblings, Charlie Garcia, Viola Solano, Lucille Gomez and Ramona Roybal. He is survived by : his wife Matilda "Tillie" Ortiz; and his children, Juanita Garcia, Christina Peneflor (Gerald), Frank Garcia (Rose), George Garcia, Jimmy Garcia (Todd) and Angela Schafer (Chris). He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.
