He was predeceased by: his parents, John B. Carey and Edna Carey; his wife Phyllis Frakes; and his siblings, Robert Carey and Ree Lyons.
He is survived by: his children, Leslie June Carey and Johnny III (Pam); his grandchildren, Adam Carey (Marissa), Laura Smith (Ross) and Andy Carey (Sarah); his great grandchild Phyllis; and his stepsons, Michael Frakes (Linda) and Dennis Frakes. He is also survived by children and grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 5th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home (1400 E Business 77, San Benito, TX 78586). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
