He was predeceased by: his parents, Juan Cortez and Ofelia Cortez (Martinez); his siblings, Sylvia Jones, Mildred Cortez, Gregorita "Gogi" Knowlton, Randy, Jose "Tabby" and Paul; and his siblings-in-law, Christie Cortez, Doug Jones and John Knowlton.
He is survived by: his wife Leona DeHerrera; his sons, Paul (Dawn), Scott of Cheyenne and Terence "Terry" (Cathy) of Bolingbrook, IL; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Tyler Cortez (Grace) and Taylor Fearing (Josh); his great grandchildren, Arabella, Avery Cortez, Louisa and Emilia Fearing; and his siblings, Ruben Cortez of Laramie and Teri Weber (Pat) of Broomfield.
A vigil service will be held on Wednesday, August 13th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes (1900 E 19th St, Cheyenne, WY 82001). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 14th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church (1808 Hot Springs Ave, Cheyenne, WY 82001).
