He is survived by: his grandchild Brianne; his wife Debby; his children, Derek Herber (Jill) and Brianne Sherman (Ben); his grandsons, Weston and Hudson; his mother Dee Herber; his brother Patrick Herber (Penny); and his siblings-in-law, Mark Wheeler (Karen), Matt Wheeler (Leigh Ann), Katy Kohrt and Amy Wheeler. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's memory to the Cheyenne Regional Cancer Center or the University of Wyoming Cowboy Joe Club.
