Kathryn Cummings wrote a sympathy message

“Marcy, Just heard of Bills passing. I am filled with love and gratitude for the twenty-five plus years of friendship and support he so graciously offered to me. His love of history and in particular his family history with their participation in the settlement of Wyoming and Cheyenne were a light and an inspiration. His constant unwavering support during the research and writing of Esther Morris' biography had meant the world to me. You were his rock & he loved you so. Kathryn Swim Cummings”

Cindy Miller wrote a sympathy message

“Marcy, To you and the rest of Bill's family, my deepest condolences. I'm sure you've heard lots of stories. Here's mine: Bill instilled my love of history. I am now the family historian. And when I make my costumes, I have a greater understanding of the eras I'm designing for because of the "base" Bill gave me in school. I can remember at some point Bill asking me to quit calling him Mr. Dubois, it was just Bill now. He'll always be Mr. Dubois to me. Cindy Bunten Miller”
