He was predeceased by : his brothers, Neal and Verl; and his parents, Cornelius Baxter Matthews and Genevieve Lewis Matthews. He is survived by : his wife Darlene; his daughter Sherry; his son-in-law Dale Karst; his son Jim; his daughter-in-law Kirstie Matthews; and his brothers, Vern and Marion.
