He was predeceased by: his parents, Don Brooks and Belva Brooks; his son Shane; and his brothers, Donnie and Darell Brooks.

He is survived by: his wife Sue of Cody; his siblings, Mitch Brooks (Bev) of Twin Falls, Idaho, Ron Brooks and Lisa DeBuff of Cody; and his stepchildren, Linette Nesbitt (Paul) of Mountain Home, Idaho and Dan Proffitt (Kyla) of Billings, Montana. He is also survived by three grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
