He was predeceased by: his parents, Queena Wadsworth and Albert Dewey Taggart; and his brothers, Dewey Taggart (Dude), Stephen E. Taggart (Eddie) and Fred Singleton.

He is survived by: his former wives, Althea Taylor and Martha High; his stepson Ben High; his children, Carrie Dickerson (George), Stan Taggart (Cassie), Ted Taggart (Sue), Dixie Selleroli (Dan), Caitie Riddle (Randy) and Julia James; and his sister Judee Rees (Scott). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and 24 great‑grandchildren.
