He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Apodaca and Virginia T. Tellez; and his grandson Daniel Ahlers. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Jane Martinez; his children, Philip Apodaca (Stacy) of Gillette, Eddie Apodaca (Amanda) of Caldwell and Elizabeth Ahlers (Christopher Olson) of Casselton; and his grandchildren, Teigan Thole (Adam), Teirdre Frear (Jesse), Tallie Mehlberg, Keegan Mehlberg (Kylie), Kearstin Apodaca, Quentin Apodaca, Cadence Apodaca, Derrick Cage, Hector Ahlers (Chelsey) and Benjimin Ahlers. He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Gillette Memorial Chapel (210 W 5th St, Gillette, WY 82716). A burial will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Mount Pisgah Cemetery (804 S Emerson Ave, Gillette, WY 82716).
